finalmente!!!!!!

By: Alberico | October 27th, 2008

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Breath of fresh air. That was my first reaction when the final whistle blew yesterday. Why? Because we finally got our deserved victory of the 2008-09 campaign. Now Sampdoria yesterday against Bologna did not do anything else different in their style of play from their first 8 games, the difference was two-fold: 1) we scored goals, 2) Cassano & Bellucci.

And let me please start off with Claudio. He is so important to this team and it was shown yesterday in his first game back as a starter. Claudio just allows Cassano to be freer and it was evident yesterday as Cassano put on a show, a SHOW!!! We saw the Cassano of the second half of the season from last year as he dazzled the fans and caused those headaches that so many defenders know so well of and would like to forget. I mean, I am already mesmerized simply by Cassano’s capability of turning defenders. It is like an art form, honestly. I knew that the Partizan win would be a turning page for this season, but it is definitely early to say so especially because we are playing against an atomic time bomb this Wednesday, that being AS Roma. At the Olimpico we face what looks to be a time bomb that may either implode or explode because one thing is certain, ROMA NEEDS TO WIN. Therefore, they will either be full out aggressive, and try to devastate SAMP (highly doubt that will happen) or my Doria will take advantage of this team that is clearly struggling and go back to Genova with a second consecutive win.

Another interesting to look for in this game is Cassano’s first game back at the Olimpico against Roma, his former team where things ended on a really sour note. I think the fans will be quite negative towards him and this will be his chance to show them why he was important to Roma. I really think that Sampdoria, minus the Atalanta debacle, has played exactly the same way, compact, organized, structured defensively, lacking goals. With Bellucci back, helping out Cassano, i think things are looking up and i don’t want to get ahead of myself, but after the Roma game, 6 of the 8 next games are against feasible opponents, where we should win. But we shall see. I’m just very optimistic about our chances, and we are simply playing better and will only get better. I hope to come out this week with 4 points (at Roma, vs. Torino)
